Two pieces of research from Nielsen in the USA over the past few days provide insights about the people who watch Netflix and Hulu online and 'Generation C': 18 - 34 year olds who despite forming only 23% of the population are seemingly the most connected.
Overall, 4oD long-form VOD views reached a total of 427m in 2011 representing a 16% increase compared with 2010.
Video on Demand viewing to Channel 4 programmes has increased even further in September, with 33m long form VoD views across all platforms during the month - an increase on the 31m views recorded in August.
Video advertising company, Brightroll, has released the findings of its first UK agency survey which analyses industry attitudes to video ads. 38% of respondents predict online video will represent the largest increase in digital media spend over the next year.
Nine percent of the world’s broadband homes now subscribe to an IPTV service, an increase from 7.8% in June last year according to new figures prepared by industry analysts, Point Topic. Europe is still the leading IPTV region although Asia is likely to overtake it in 2012.

International market research firm, Parks Associates, has released findings from a new study which shows that 15-30% of broadband households in the US and Western Europe are interested in a TV Everywhere solution - the ability to watch TV on multiple devices.
Channel 4 has published its first public report on usage of its 4oD VOD service. The report highlights on-demand consumption across all available platforms including YouTube, SeeSaw, iOS, Playstation, BT Vision, Virgin Media, and Talk Talk.
The latest figures from comScore show that 180 million U.S. Internet users watched online video content in July for an average of 18.5 hours per viewer. The total U.S. Internet audience engaged in a record 6.9 billion viewing sessions.
YouTube accounted for 1 in every 35 UK visits to websites during July according to Experian Hitwise. It also racked up 22.54% of all visits to social networks in July, making YouTube the fastest growing social network in the UK for the fifth consecutive month.
