DAZN CONNECT, the newly launched cloud-native content distribution service from DAZN Group and Optus, the Australian telecommunications company, owned by Singtel, Asia’s leading communications group, have today announced a new content distribution partnership.
The partnership sees DAZN CONNECT deliver to Optus Sport, video IP back-up feeds across its coverage of various sporting events including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Nations League and Premier League. In addition, DAZN CONNECT is also providing backup distribution services for all 52 games of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Optus Sport has been accelerating its acquisition of sports content and as a result its content distribution needs have grown considerably in the last 12 months. It selected DAZN Connect because it wanted to diversify its distribution arrangements and utilise DAZN Connect’s innovative IP-based delivery approach, provide resiliency to Optus Sport across its service, and add redundancy and multiple back-up paths throughout the Optus Sport platforms.
Gareth Rees, SVP Business Development at DAZN Connect said: “We are very much look forward to working with Optus and helping them to continue to deliver their premium football rights portfolio. We are seeing a real movement of more and more partners coming to us exploring using IP as both primary and back-ups paths. Credit to Optus for their innovative strategy as this set-up makes excellent sense, both operationally and commercially for all parties.”
DAZN Connect is a global, live sports content distribution service for rights holders, broadcasters and media partners, operated by DAZN Group, the digital leader in global sports media. With over 30,000 live sport events across multiple leagues and competitions, DAZN Connect offers access to one of the largest live sports content networks in the world.
